Getting back into shape with ayurvedic herbs

In the quest for a healthy, balanced body, Ayurveda offers a unique vision. Rather than focusing on simple weight loss, Ayurvedic medicine invites us to rediscover our healthy weight. According to Ayurveda, each individual has a unique constitution that determines his or her basic morphology. Thus, maintaining a weight in harmony with this morphology is essential to promote well-being and overall health.

In this article, we take a look at this vision of healthy weight and discover three plants that have been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to support natural weight loss and body balance: Garcinia, Gymnema and Coleus

The importance of the Ayurvedic constitution

Before discovering the benefits of Ayurvedic herbs, it's important to understand your individual Ayurvedic constitution, or "prakriti". According to Ayurveda, there are three main doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each person is characterized by a unique combination of these doshas, which influence their morphology, temperament and health.

  • Vata: associated with air and ether, Vata is light, dry and mobile.
  • Pitta: associated with fire and water, Pitta is hot, sharp and intense.
  • Kapha: governed by earth and water, Kapha is heavy, cold and stable.

Pittas are generally of average height and weight. As for Vatas, they tend to remain slim and have low bone density. Kaphas, on the other hand, are characterized by a heavier build and heavy bones.

Identifying more clearly one's original Ayurvedic constitution (Prakriti) and more specifically one's dominant dosha can then help to understand one's basic morphology and adapt one's diet, lifestyle and herbal choices accordingly.

Ayurveda considers that our environment, our experiences, our age, our lifestyle and many other factors can influence our Ayurvedic constitution and thus create an imbalance in our doshas (Vikriti). For example, in winter, Kapha, which represents heaviness and lethargy, is dominant. In winter, for example, Kapha, which represents heaviness and lethargy, is dominant, so we may tend to let ourselves go, to eat richer, heavier food and, as a result, get a little plump, which is a sign of imbalance.

Ayurveda, then, as an art of living, offers a number of ways to improve your body's weight and help you return to balance, without any form of constraint.

However, it is essential to respect one's Ayurvedic constitution and learn to accept one's morphology as defined by balance, in order to achieve both physical and mental well-being.

To regain a healthy weight, however, it is possible to find precious help in the form of certain plants such as Garcinia, Gymnema and Coleus.

The benefits of Garcinia

Garcinia Cambogia originated in the rainforests of India. This shrub produces yellow fruits strongly reminiscent of pumpkins. However, the real power of this plant lies in its bark.

Garcinia bark contains a multitude of active molecules, including HCA, which give it its exceptional health and weight-loss properties.

HCA is known for its role in blocking the transformation of sugar into fat. By inhibiting a key enzyme involved in this process, HCA helps reduce fat accumulation in the body.

Garcinia is therefore particularly interesting for those who find it hard to resist sweet products. This essential property makes it an ideal supplement for maintaining stable glucose levels, reducing the risk of fluctuations that can lead to uncontrolled cravings. Garcinia is also renowned for its action on the stomach. By acting as a natural appetite suppressant, it helps prolong the feeling of satiety, thus limiting cravings for between-meal snacks.

In conclusion, Garcinia is much more than just a dietary supplement for weight loss. Thanks to its multiple actions on sugar management, appetite and fat metabolism, this plant offers a holistic approach to regaining a harmonious balance in our bodies

The unique virtues of Gymnema

Gymnema Sylvestris is an invaluable ally in the vast selection of Ayurvedic herbs available for natural weight management.

Native to the tropical regions of southern and eastern India, the leaves of this plant contain gymnemic acid, a substance with amazing weight and blood sugar management properties.

One of Gymnema's most intriguing features is its effect on the taste buds. After consumption, Gymnema provokes an astonishing sensation: the taste buds no longer perceive the sweet taste. This unique action can help reduce cravings for sweets and moderate carbohydrate consumption, thus naturally balancing the body.

Beyond its effect on taste, Gymnema has another astonishing property: it limits sugar absorption in the intestine. By regulating the body's glycemic response, Gymnema offers essential support in maintaining stable blood sugar levels and preventing fluctuations.

In conclusion, Gymnema Sylvestris is a powerful ally in the quest for balanced weight and blood sugar levels. With its actions on taste perception, sugar absorption and insulin regulation, this plant offers a holistic approach to supporting natural weight loss and metabolic health

Coleus Forskohlii, native to the mountainous regions of India, has been revered for centuries in Ayurvedic tradition for its role in maintaining a healthy body weight. Its leaves contain a precious substance called forskolin, which is considered a real treasure in traditional Indian medicine.

According to Ayurveda, coleus helps maintain a balanced weight. Thanks to its interaction with adenylate cyclase, forskolin stimulates metabolism and promotes fat burning in a natural, balanced way, without disturbing the body's overall harmony

In conclusion, regaining a healthy weight according to the principles of Ayurveda involves a deep understanding of our individual constitution and the adoption of a lifestyle that promotes balance and harmony. Ayurvedic herbs such as Garcinia, Gymnema and Coleus offer invaluable support in this process, helping to regulate weight while respecting the unique needs of each individual.
