Turnover with coral lentils filling seasoned with Garam masala

Easy - Preparation : 25 mn - For 4 people




For the spicy dough :
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons of white flour
  • 1 cup of whole-wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of Garam Masala 
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable-margarine
  • 1 tablespoon of soy milk

For the filling :
  • 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil
  • 3 Cardamom pods’ seeds (about 12 mg)
  • Coral lentils (fill 2/3 of a cup)
  • 1 diced potato (200 g)
  • 1/4 cup of peas
  • 1 teaspoon of Garam Masala
  • 1 finely chopped garlic
  • 1 crushed garlic clove



  • Combine both flours, a teaspoon of Garam Masala, margarine and salt in a bowl; then add about 2 cups of water.
  • Shape this dough into a ball, cover it with Cellophane and chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, heat sunflower oil in a pot. Add the onion, garlic and cardamom and let sweat for 2 min.
  • Add the lentils, potatoes and one cup + 1/3 of a cup of water. Bring to simmering point, stirring occasionally; then turn down the burner to a minimum and simmer uncovered for 15 to 20 min: lentils must collapse, and a thick preparation is obtained.
  • Add the peas and let cook for 5 min. Remove from heat; add a teaspoon of Garam Masala. 
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll out each dough roll on a well-floured surface, to a 20 cm disc.
  • Place a quarter of the lentils preparation at the centre of each dough roll and fold them to form 4 pockets.

  • Bake for 25 min. Let them rest in the switched-off oven for 10 min.

Ingredients: Cardamom*, Coriander*, Cumin*, Black pepper*, Cinnamon*, Clove*, Nutmeg*.
